As the volume of video and voice information captured by an organization grows, and the need to comply with new regulations, it is essential to store video safely and securely while still making it readily available to authorized users. Using traditional on-line storage becomes excessively expensive for long-term storage needs. A low-cost tape storage has become a competitive solution to keep long-term video which is infrequently accessed. The system archives the video and audio data stored on the on-line storage into the Archive Array as a scheduled background task. The archive server manages the data transferred from all Vigilant™ video servers to the Archive Array and updates the library database accordingly. The system simultaneously performs all triplex functions together with the long-term archive. On retrieval off line archive, the Vigilant™ user interface provides seamless access to the required video and audio.
